I know very little about Marion Webb. She and Roger Robert Blosser had a child ( Robert Richard Blosser) out of wedlock on May 14, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois. According to Robert's birth certificate, Marion already had a child prior to Robert's birth. Family legend is that she did not want Robert and left him with his father, Roger, who left him with his own father ( William Looney Blosser) while he went on to marry and have another son and two daughters. Another story about Marion (who may also have been called Miriam or Mericourt) was that she wanted Roger to marry her, but he would not. She then placed baby Robert in an orphanage (from which his paternal Aunt Claudia retrieved him) and became a nun. Family rumors said that Marion was from England, which the birth certificate disputes, but if the Colin and Mary from Ellis Island (below) are her parents, it all fits together. Any help on her will be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE 12/1/02: I have just found a ship's manifest from 1924 on the Ellis Island website that contains a husband and wife named "Colin Webb and Mary Dunne Webb"! Colin is from Manchester and was home visiting his brother W. Duncan Webb of Morningside, Fairfield, Manchester. Mary had been born in Chicago but considered herself a British Citizen. In 1924 Colin was 51 and Mary was 50 and they were returning to their home on Oakenwald Avenue in Chicago. They had lived in the U.S. for 17 years and were planning on remaining there. Colin listed his second language as Spanish. I have a strong suspicion that these are my Great-Great Grandparents. Please contact me if you know these people!
